BACKGROUND AND TRAINING:

I am a licensed social worker (LMSW) therapist trained at Columbia University School of Social Work. I am licensed to practice psychotherapy in New York State and New Jersey. I have been trained and attuned in Usui and Tibetan Reiki. I practice yoga and am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the YogaSkills School of Kemetic Yoga. I am a certified Meditation Instructor trained in Samatha Vipassana meditation. I have a Master’s Degree in Public Health (MPH) with a specialization in Population Health. I specialize in working with people of all ages who wish to utilize Reiki, yoga, or other healing modalities for general wellness, healing, stress reduction, as well as for specific ailments or pain.

WHO CAN BENEFIT:

Reiki can be used for general wellness as well as for specific issues. Reiki works by assisting you to reduce stress, which may in turn create an environment in your body and mind where healing can be more easily facilitated. In my practice, I have had great results working with clients with problems related to stress or chronic pain. Reiki may be effective for people who suffer from headaches, insomnia, depression, anxiety, or fatigue. Reiki is often used as a complement to medical treatment, and is offered at some hospitals and medical centers.

Yoga can be used to strengthen the mind as well as the body. Through yoga practice, one can relieve stress, improve circulation, build strength, heal from injury, and improve flexibility. I teach yoga in a way that allows yoga students to experience the spiritual benefits of yoga practice as well as the physical and mental.

Psychotherapy can be useful for overcoming personal challenges and healing from emotional wounds and traumas. It can facilitate transforming deeply engrained psychosocial patterns, which can enhance healing on all levels.

CLIENT-PRACTITIONER EXPECTATIONS:

YOGA:

Before beginning yoga class or private yoga sessions, we will discuss any prior injuries or areas of tension in the body. I will offer modifications for postures that are too challenging. I will offer support and encouragement, in addition to mindfulness messaging to support your practice and wellbeing.

REIKI:

The first Reiki session will include a brief introduction and client intake form. You will be asked a series of questions so that I may plan the most beneficial session or series of sessions to address your needs. I follow a strict code of ethics and will maintain your privacy and confidentiality.

A Reiki session will begin with a client lying face up resting comfortably. I will complete the standard Reiki hand positions. I will focus on any areas that you have indicated in your interview, such as any areas of pain or injury. You are encouraged to discuss any physical pain or parts of the body you would like to work on at the beginning of your session.

During the session, clients are encouraged to relax and inform me of anything that makes them uncomfortable. Additional pillows and blankets can be provided. Please feel free to talk with me regarding feedback during the session. I will often talk with you before or after, and refrain from talking with your during the session. However, your comfort is a priority, and it is essential that you can relax in order to receive Reiki. Please feel free to ask if there is anything I can do to make you more comfortable.

For distance Reiki sessions, the client will be asked to sit or lay down comfortably. Sessions are preceded by a brief 10 minute phone call. Distance Reiki sessions are shorter, and typically last 30 minutes.
